Maddie Priest ’24 Signs Letter of Intent to Run at Elon University

Maddie Priest, senior at Archmere Academy, signed her National Letter of Intent to join Elon University’s Cross Country and Track and Field Team on November 8, 2023. Elon University is a Division 1 athletic program located in Elon, North Carolina. Maddie has been a Varsity Cross Country and Track and Field runner since her freshman year.
Maddie has been recognized with numerous awards throughout her high school career at Archmere for both Cross Country and Track and Field. She was named DIAA Team All-State and DSAC 1st Team All Conference for cross country her freshman year. In 9th grade, Maddie was honored to receive the Pasquale Marinelli Memorial Award for Freshman Scholar Athlete of the year at Archmere. She received DIAA All-State, All New Castle County and DSAC 1st Team All Conference her sophomore and junior year. During her senior year, her team won the DSAC Championship with Maddie leading the way with a 2nd place finish and the team placed 2nd at the 2023 DIAA State Meet. She has been ranked in the top 25 Delaware runners for Cross Country. Maddie has received the Coaches award for indoor track, Outdoor Track and holds the school record for the 400m indoor time. Recognized as a leader, Maddie has been a team captain since the start of her sophomore year for both cross country and track.
 
In addition to being a multi-sport athlete, Maddie is a member of the Spanish and Art National Honor Society and is currently the Vice President for National Honor Society for her senior class. Maddie has volunteered her time at Love Blue Non Profit Organization, participated in a round table discussion for Sean’s House on the importance of mental health for student-athletes and was the Junior Female Representative for the DIAA Student Leadership Workshop her junior year.
