Spring Musical - Into the Woods - New Date

The Archmere Academy Drama Club is proud to present its Winter (now Spring) Musical, the Stephen Sondheim classic, Into the Woods.  This stunning Broadway musical won several Tony awards in 1987 including Best Book and Best Score for a Musical.  Into the Woods takes a few of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales and mixes them together to explore the themes of dreams and being careful what you wish for.  The musical centers on the main storyline of the Baker and the Baker’s Wife (played by junior Rob Smith and senior Alexis Rendel) who wish to have a child, must undo a spell put on them by their neighbor, the Witch (played by junior Ella Bellace).  As they venture into the woods to find ingredients to the spell, they run into other characters from other fairy tales who also have gone into the woods to have adventures and chase their dreams.  Little Red Ridinghood (played by senior Gianna Abbrescia), Jack of the Jack and the Beanstalk story (played by freshman Jack Maister), Cinderella (played by junior Amanda Treston), among others, run into the Bakers and chaos ensues.  Over thirty students will be a part of the wonderfully talented cast and crew. 

 

The show twists farcical and touching moments with songs written by Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim which capture these trials and tribulations.  The show will make you laugh, cry, and question your own wishes and reaffirm the value of love and family.
