Boys Lacrosse Notches Win Over Appoquinimink; Drew Duncan Scores Six

On Tuesday, April 25, the boys lacrosse team traveled to Appoquinimink High School to compete against the Jaguars under the lights in a battle of top-10 teams. Within minutes, Appoquinimink took a 2-0 lead, but it didn't take long for the Auks to regain control of the game. They scored the next 11 goals en route to a 15-3 win. Archmere junior Drew Duncan recorded six goals that evening. Senior Jack O'Neill was dominant in face-offs.

"After Appo’s second goal, O’Neill controlled the draw, and Archmere went to work. They worked the ball behind the net into the “X” position, a strategy that would work all night. Alex Starnes drove down the middle and took a pass from behind the net, and in one motion he sent the ball past Jags goalie Jacob Muntz. That goal came with 4:30 to go in the first, and the Auks added five more before the quarter ended."

Drew Duncan '24 recorded his hat trick with five seconds remaining in the first quarter. Drew and fellow attackmen Vinnie Scibello '23 combined for all five Archmere goals in the second quarter. The Auks balanced possession for the rest of the game through face-off and ground ball wins.

Drew Duncan '24 finished the game with six goals and two assists, while Alex Starnes '23 added three. Goalie Gianni Bifferato '23 made five saves.
