Archmere Academy Hosts Annual Garage & Estate Sale March 25

On Saturday, March 25, 2017 the Moglia Fieldhouse on Archmere Academy’s campus will be overflowing with garage sale treasures – from estate collections and housewares, to collectibles, art work, books, toys, and electronics - from sporting equipment, outdoor toys and bicycles, to men's, women's and children's clothing, shoes, jewelry and more! The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3600 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.

The Archmere Mothers’ Guild, a group of parent volunteers, prepares and organizes the items in two large gymnasiums for the Academy’s Annual Garage Sale, which raises funds for the school. The event has been held in March every year since 1973 with all the proceeds going right back into the classrooms and campus. Organized by the Mothers' Guild, in recent years the event has become a joint venture with the Fathers' Club. Archmere families donate items throughout the year, all of which are sorted and prepared for the sale. The Fathers' Club provides pick up service for furniture and other large items, and supports the sale in a myriad of ways.

The sale has become a community event, drawing a sizeable crowd to the Archmere campus each year. “This is a great tradition, not only because it brings together the members of the Archmere community as they volunteer and work together to raise funds for the school, but because it opens the campus to the greater community,” says Archmere Headmaster, Dr. Michael Marinelli.
