Girls' Basketball Wins Big in Season Opener

The girls' basketball team made headlines with a 52-38 win against St. Mark's on December 7th. This was their first game of the season, and they opened strong against the Spartans. It took up until the fourth quarter to attain a big lead, though, with 20 points scored by the Auks in the last few minutes.

Archmere junior Emma McCann started the shooting barrage by stealing a pass at mid-court and going in for a layup, creating a 34-30 lead. She was quoted in the article as saying, "We knew it was going to be a really hard fight because every year with them is tough. So we were ready for a good match up." Emma ended the game with 15 points and Julia Jogani '19  scored 12. They accounted for four of the Auks’ five three-pointers, and Archmere made nine of their 11 free-throw attempts.
