Archmere Students and Alumna Caroline Quinn '17 Place High at Voice Competition

Archmere students Danielle Cuoco '18, Bella Abbrescia '19, Matthew Witterholt '19, and Sophia Liston '20, and Archmere alumna Caroline Quinn ’17 attended the Eastern Regional Conference and Student Auditions for the National Association of Teachers of Singing at West Chester University, March 9-11.

Two hundred collegiate and independent studio singers participated in the auditions. Matthew Witterholt '19 placed first in singing classical music for senior high school men, and Bella Abbrescia '19 was a semi-finalist for classical senior high school women. Archmere music medalist Caroline Quinn ’17 placed first in college freshmen music theater and second for classical singing. All three qualify for the national round of student auditions to be held at the NATS national convention in Las Vegas this June.

The students attended classes to learn about Broadway singing, the Alexander Technique, Schubert style in singing, using a healthy speaking voice, and Korean art song. The National Association of Teachers of Singing celebrates the art of singing through a series of competitions and programs that are designed to showcase the talented singers and performers who are soon to be rising stars in the profession. Events are held annually or biennially, many in conjunction with the NATS National Conference.
