Archmere Cheerleaders Named to National Cheerleading Association’s (NCA) All-American Team
Several members of the Archmere Academy Cheer Team qualified for the National Cheerleading Association’s (NCA) All-American Team, announced at the NCA Cheer Camp held August 18-19, 2025 at Archmere.
Seniors Maddie Benson (captain), Claribel Ngalim (captain), Zoë Thornton, Kellyn Williams, and junior Cydney Cain (captain) were officially named NCA All-American Cheerleaders. These athletes are invited to perform during special events with NCA's parent company, Varsity, which includes the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour; the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade; the London New Year’s Day Parade; and the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
Additional All-American nominees on the team include 9th graders Jayla Brockenberry and Ella Stemerman and junior Sophia Czeshin.
To be selected as a member of the All-American Cheer Team, NCA staff instructors nominate cheerleaders during camp who display superior technical skills, leadership, and strong personal values. Nominees then try out and are evaluated by the instructors in five specific areas; they must score above a specific total point value to earn the distinction.
The Archmere Cheer Team also became an officially-credentialed Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad, a program that focuses on the importance of safety and leadership; and the five key pillars of a successful spirit program: Ambassador, Athlete, Entertainer, Spirit Raiser, and Crowd Leader. The team earned this title via training during camp through physical instruction that prepares teams for national competition and the team's role as ambassadors of Archmere and the greater community.
