Design Thinking in Action: Spotlight on Architecture & Industrial Design
Archmere's Art & Design Program offers students hands-on technology-infused creative opportunities in architecture and industrial design for students interested in developing a design portfolio for college admissions and as an opportunity for focused exploration of creative career pathways in these fields.
Our recently upgraded Design Lab located on the second floor of the Manor features an Ankermake M5 3D printer, power tools, and an array of 3D prototyping resources for students to take their design concepts to reality. Students apply the design thinking process to develop innovative solutions to creative challenges through a systematic, iterative process of defining, ideating, prototyping, testing, and evaluating.
For his first AP3D Design project, senior Griffin Merenda designed a sustainable home incorporating solar power. Senior Mason Kohl investigated natural systems and structures and designed a flexible desk organizer inspired by the hexagonal shape of a honeycomb.
