Archmere Welcomes Students From Madrid, Spain

The Department of World Languages and Cultures began the next cycle of Archmere's Spanish Exchange Program this month. On September 5th, Archmere welcomed students from Colegio Virgen de Europa in Madrid, Spain for a two-week exchange, hosted by the World Language and Cultures Department. Eleven Archmere families opened their homes, giving our guests the opportunity to experience American culture firsthand.
Highlights included attending classes with their hosts, exploring Old Philadelphia, touring Washington, D.C., and enjoying a taste of fall with a hayride at Linvilla Orchards. With gratitude and smiles, we said hasta pronto to our Spanish friends on September 20.

The Spanish Exchange program is comprised of a 2-year cycle in which Archmere students host the Spanish students, and then travel to visit their Spanish counterparts in Spain. In June 2026, Archmere students will travel to Madrid to continue this enriching exchange. The reciprocity of this program not only reinforces the learning opportunities for our students and the larger Archmere community, but also enhances and strengthens the relationship between the students themselves.

On behalf of the World Languages and Cultures Department, we would like to thank all of the host families for opening their homes and their hearts to our Spanish visitors.
