Track & Field Shines at DIAA Division 2 State Championships

Archmere Track & Field delivered an outstanding performance at the DIAA Division 2 State Championships, . highlighted by a runner-up finish from the girls team, the program’s best showing since 2010. The boys team also turned in a strong performance, earning a 12th-place finish against tough statewide competition. The State Championship Meet was held at Dover High School May 15-16, and featured 46 different teams.
The team showcased their talent, determination, and depth throughout the meet with multiple podium finishes, scoring performances, and standout individual efforts. Leading the way was Marlise Harris, who captured the DIAA Division 2 state championship in the 300-meter hurdles with a winning time of 45.70 seconds. Marlise also added points for the Auks in the 100-meter hurdles and as a member of the girls 4x400-meter relay team that earned a third-place finish.

Distance standout Riley Horsey played a major role in the girls’ runner-up finish, placing second in the 1600 meters while also earning third-place finishes in both the 800-meter and 3200-meter races. In the field events, Kindred Ballard secured runner-up honors in the shot put and added another podium finish in discus.

The boys team was led by Josh Cox, who placed third in the shot put and also scored in discus, while Khaleef Wilson contributed points with strong finishes in both the high jump and 200 meters.

Additional scoring performances came from Cecilia DePalma, Bridget Malloy, Aidan Mahon, Kayla Iroha, Alaina Thomas, Owen Parsons, and several relay teams, all contributing to a memorable championship meet for Archmere.

From state titles to podium finishes, Archmere athletes represented their school with pride and determination on Delaware’s biggest stage, capping off an impressive season for Auk Track & Field.
