Raphael Lombardi '29 Wins First Place in Chess Tournament
On January 3, 2026, Raphael Lombardi '29 competed in a major chess tournament held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, New York City. The event attracted more than 1,400 registrants from across the tri-state area. Raphael earned first place overall in the Under 1200 High School Section, finishing with a perfect 5–0 score.
Raphael’s victory adds to an already impressive competitive record. He has placed at each of the last two National Chess Championships, reflecting consistent high-level performance and a strong dedication to the game of chess.
