Two Archmere Students Recognized with First Place & Second Place Awards by Howard Pyle Studio Group

Scholastics Gold Key Award winners Michael Mallozzi '26 and Rebecca Wang '26 are recipients of the newest art honor, the Howard Pyle Studio Award. The Howard Pyle Studio Group is a non-profit organization located at 1305 North Franklin St., Wilmington, DE, which preserves Pyle's original 1900 studio. Michael won First Place for his painting “Backstage Huddle”, and Rebecca won Second Place for her mixed media piece “Modern Ocean”.
This year, the Howard Pyle Studio Group collaborated with the Delaware Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program to select recipients of a new prize, the Howard Pyle Studio Award. The judges are members of the Howard Pyle Studio who are professional artists and art teachers, as well as jurors for adult exhibitions. The judges said, "The art teachers as well as the students should be highly commended" and were "amazed by the quality and maturity of the work represented." One commented that she would have juried the paintings into an adult competition. The judges visited the Scholastic Art Awards Gold Key exhibit in Dover, DE to select the recipients  of this new award.

Michael and Rebecca will be presented with their awards and cash prizes during the Howard Pyle Studio Group Art Loop on Friday, April 3 at 6:00 pm at the Howard Pyle Studio, 1305 N. Franklin Street in Wilmington.
