One Hundred and Seven Archmere Student Photographs to be Exhibited at the Brandywine River Museum

Archmere Academy’s National Art Honor Society students will have one hundred and seven student landscape photographs exhibited in a dedicated show for Archmere Academy. Archmere’s National Art Honor Society Presidents are Olivia Benson ’26 and Abby Leonardo ’26, and Stephanie Silverman ’00 serves as the faculty sponsor. This is Archmere’s fourth dedicated student-curated museum exhibition.
On Monday, March 23rd, celebrated local photographer and Pulitzer-Prize nominee Jim Graham visited with the NAHS students for a photography lecture and provided an overview of his experience as a professional photographer. Jim also provided tailored feedback for students on their photographs and customized technical demonstrations in Adobe Photoshop for image editing for the student photography pieces in the show. He also provided an overview of the influence of the Wyeth family in his own landscape work, inspiring students to consider the metaphoric and narrative potential of landscape photography, as well as consideration of the many technical components that combine to make a strong image including composition, rule of thirds, and color corrections.

Save the Date!
There will be a special opening reception for the entire school community on Sunday, May 9th, from 10:30am-12pm to see the exhibit, and the museum is generously offering free admission for the Archmere community.

About the Archmere Photography Exhibition:
Time, Place & Space
This student-curated exhibition will feature landscape photography of Archmere Academy’s National Art Honor Society, and was inspired by three generations of Wyeth landscapes in the collection of the Brandywine River Museum. Students had the opportunity to learn from and work with celebrated local photographer and Pulitzer-Prize nominee, Jim Graham, to explore principles of photographic composition including framing, emphasis, leading lines, balance, movement, contrast, space, repetition and color. The evocative and captivating student photographs in this exhibition explore each student’s personal connection to time and place.
