Archmere’s boys lacrosse team used an aggressive defensive approach to generate scoring opportunities in a 14–5 victory over Delaware Military Academy on April 21 at home.
The Auks displayed balanced scoring throughout the game, netting four goals in both the first and third quarters and adding three in the second and fourth. Despite the lopsided score, Seahawks goalie Jonathan Kryspin made several impressive saves that kept the margin from growing even larger.
Quin Duncan opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, followed shortly by Dean Sheehan, who carried the ball nearly the length of the field with his long stick before finding the back of the net. Ryan Hagenberg added another after capitalizing on a rebound off a Kryspin save.
Turnovers proved costly for DMA in the first half, as Archmere consistently converted mistakes into goals. One such opportunity came late in the first quarter, when Jonah Kuzinski finished a pass from behind the net with just two seconds remaining.
In the second quarter, Jack King extended the lead with a skillful move to create space for his shot. DMA’s Jackson Grandell responded with a coast-to-coast effort off the faceoff, scoring the Seahawks’ only goal of the half. Archmere, however, added two more goals before the break to maintain control.
The Auks carried that momentum into the second half, opening the third quarter with four consecutive goals. While DMA managed two late goals in the period, a similar pattern followed in the fourth, as Archmere scored three times before the Seahawks added two late goals.
Unofficially, Quin Duncan led the offense with four goals, while Jonah Kuzinski recorded a hat trick. Congratulations to the lacrosse team and coaches!
