"The Drowsy Chaperone" Wins Three Cappies

Earlier this spring, the Archmere winter musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, was nominated for eleven Cappies Awards. The production was tied for the highest number of nominations Archmere has received in its 14 years participating in the Cappies, matching the eleven nominations earned by Matilda in a previous season.
The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews. The Drowsy Chaperone hosted over forty critics from all over the Philly area.

On Sunday, May 31st (right after Graduation!), Director Brian Manelski attended the Twentieth Annual Cappies Gala at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. The Gala, an end of the season "Tony’s-like celebration", highlights all nominated high school shows through performances, and the final Cappies Awards are presented. Awards are given for performance, non-performance, and best critics.

Cappies were awarded for:
- Annie Shaposky (Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Musical)
- Gretchen Tonn (Featured Actor in a Female Role in a Musical)
- Costumes

Congratulations to Archmere Drama Club for an incredible season this year!
