Archmere Academy Powers Past Christiana in 18-4 Softball Match
The Archmere softball team bounced back in a big way Wednesday afternoon, dominating Christiana High School in an 18-4 victory. After suffering a tough two-run loss in its previous outing, Archmere responded with one of its strongest offensive performances of the season. The Auks have now recorded six wins by 10 runs or more this year.
Leading the charge was senior Meredith Finger, who starred both in the circle and at the plate. Meredith struck out eight batters over five innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits. Offensively, she went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBIs, and a stolen base. The standout performance continued a hot streak for Meredith, who has recorded at least one stolen base in each of her last four games.
Archmere’s lineup produced runs throughout the afternoon, with several players turning in big performances. Senior Maddie Evans went 3-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs, and two stolen bases, setting a new career high in RBIs. Sophomore Ava Milewski also delivered a strong outing, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a triple, and two RBIs. Sophomore Juliet Polsky added to the offensive surge with two RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
As a team, the Auks posted a season-best .514 batting average, consistently applying pressure on the Vikings’ defense from the opening inning. With the win, Archmere improves to 7-10 on the season. Christiana drops to 7-12-1 and has now lost four straight home games.
The Auks return to action Friday when they host Padua Academy at 3:45 p.m.
