Five Students Invited to DE Governor's School for Arts
Congratulations to Archmere sophomores Allison Qu, Lauren Nguyen, Sophia Silverman, Annie Shaposky, and Jessica Li for earning spots in this summer's very prestigious Governor's School for Excellence. The Delaware Governor's School for Excellence is a one-week summer program that brings together academically and artistically talented Delaware high school students who have completed their sophomore year.
Students are nominated to participate in Governor’s School through their schools via a competitive application process. Allison was nominated and chosen for the Academic Program, Lauren and Sophia were nominated and chosen for the Visual Arts Program, Annie for the Vocal Program, and Jessica will participate in the Music Program for piano. Students can only be nominated for one category in either the academic or arts program.
From July 12-17th, Allison, Lauren, Sophia, Annie, and Jessica will live in residence halls on the University of Delaware campus and attend either the academic program, consisting of discussions, lectures, debates and films revolving around a specific theme, or the visual and performing arts program, which provides tutorial instruction with a noted artist and culminates in a performance or public display of the students’ work.
Delaware Governor’s School for Excellence is sponsored by the Office of the Governor of the State of Delaware in cooperation with the Delaware Department of Education and the University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies.
