Varsity Football Kicks off Season with On the Road Victory

The football team boasted 387 rushing yards on the way to a season-opening 43-6 victory over the St. Elizabeth Vikings at Abessinio Stadium on Saturday, September 6th. After being down 6-0 at the first quarter, Archmere found its footing for the rest of the half. Wyatt Beekley '28 scored from the 1, Michael Donovan '26 ran for a 39-yard TD, Noah Blessington '26 earned a safety and Wyatt Beekley '28 again scored from the 17 for a 22-6 halftime lead. Michael Donovan '26 accounted for both third-quarter TD's, hitting Noah Blessington '26 for a 12-yard score and finding the end zone on a 36-yard run. Luke Scott '29 finished the scoring with a 23-yard run.
Game highlights included:
  • Michael Donovan '26 rushed 12 times for 185 yards and 2 TDs. He also passed for 74 yards and a TD.
  • Wyatt Beekley '28 rushed for 96 yards on 8 carries and had 2 TDs.
  • Ryan Hagenberg '26 had 50 yards on 5 carries. He also had an INT and a sack on defense.
  • Noah Blessington '26 had a safety and a sack while adding 7 tackles.
  • Jack King '28 had an INT. He also had 3 kickoff returns for a total of 92 yards.
  • The Auks offensive line led a rushing attack that gained 387 yards and an 11 yd per carry average.
