Gold Key Scholastic Awards Winners Recognized

On Saturday, February 7, Archmere students and families gathered at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware, to celebrate outstanding achievement at the 2026 Scholastic Gold Key Award Reception. Out of 58 portfolios submitted statewide, only five received a Gold Key Award, and Archmere students were honored with two of these prestigious recognitions. Congratulations to seniors Andres Ramos ’26 and Abby Leonardo ’26, whose award-winning portfolios will now advance to the national level of the competition.

HRAI Students Perform with the Delaware All-State Orchestra

Five students from the Archmere HRAI performed with the Delaware All-State Orchestra at the Louis L. Redding School in Middletown, Delaware on February 21, 2026, under the baton of guest conductor Jeffrey Schoyen. The varied concert program featured classics such as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart, The Planets by Holst, as well as other traditional and contemporary works for orchestra. The students of the 80 piece ensemble were selected by audition in order to attend a rigorous schedule of three days rehearsal followed by the stunning concert.

Host Families Needed

The Global Studies Program has moved past the midpoint of its fourth successful year of hosting two students from Premonstratske Gymnasium, a Norbertine high school in Kosice, Slovakia. Lucky for Archmere, two more students from the school are looking to enroll next year! This means that we are seeking families to host two students for all or part of the next school year. Watch Adam’s and Zdenka’s application videos at the links here (Adam’s video & Zdenka’s video)! Our hope in sharing them with you is that you might contact Mr. Dougherty, Global Studies Coordinator, to discuss opening your home to them and continue this Norbertine partnership.

The Global Studies Program Is Taking Flight!

The Auks are flying everywhere! Fifteen students and two teachers will travel to Costa Rica six weeks from now to study and engage with our changing environment...and also find time for some white water rafting! Then as soon as school lets out in June, Spanish students will visit Spain and attend classes with the students they hosted in September while, on a separate trip, twenty-five other globe-trotting students will be touring several historic cities and towns in Italy. But there's more! Over Thanksgiving in 2026, ten students will travel to Granada, Nicaragua, to tutor the children at Centro de Oportunidad, a barrio school outside this colorful city and maybe catch a zipline on a volcano! The Global Studies Program has also organized a STEM-focused, culturally rich trip to Japan over Easter break in 2027. If your child is interested in this opportunity, please contact Mrs. Lobo (vinital@archmereacademy.com) for more details. All students who travel internationally with Archmere become eligible for the Global Studies Diploma. Contact Mr. Dougherty for details.
