Quarter-one grades should be finalized this week. College Counseling will be sending out a form for all seniors to complete to inform our office if they want their grades shared with colleges they’ve applied to. An email will be sent when grades are available and when quarter one grade submission has been finalized. This was discussed in College Seminar this cycle as well.
As most seniors have completed some of their college applications, we’d like to urge parents and guardians to make progress in completing financial aid forms. The FAFSA and CSS Profile deadlines for schools will be published on their financial aid websites and are likely different based upon the application process the student is using. Here’s a video of our
financial aid webinar from last month.
Juniors:
A communication about an optional, free, practice ACT and SAT was sent out this week. The ACT is offered on Saturday, December 6th and students should arrive at 7:45 AM. The SAT will be offered on Saturday, January 10th, same arrival time — 7:45 AM. The email includes instructions for students that would like to take the tests with additional time. These tests are ideal practice for most junior testing timelines.
Our Junior College Panel will be at 6:30 on November 17th in the Theater. We’re excited to invite five admission professionals to participate in a Q&A to help juniors better understand the college search, application, and selection process. While many families have already started the process, this is the unofficial commencement of the class’ college search. Attendance is mandatory for the Class of 2027, parents and guardians are more than welcome to attend, as are all members of the Archmere community.
As an FYI - Archmere will be hosting an in-school, SAT test for the Class of 2027 on March 13th. This test is optional and Mr. Jezyk will be sending out registration information at a future date.
Our Career Field Trip to the Drexel University's Health Science Department was a success. Nineteen sophomores and juniors used their day-off to tour campus, attend a health science information session, tour nursing and other medical facilities, and dine in the main food court.
We will be sending out invitations next week for an optional career exercise offered during Work Periods on the week of November 17th. Six Lives is a workshop that focuses on successful lifestyles that are associated with careers and requires students to make their own definition of success. Please sign up if interested.
Sophomores:
Members of the Class of 2028 that are in an advanced math track are invited to also consider the free, practice, ACT test in December and/or practice SAT in January. Please also keep an eye out for College Counseling’s next newsletter with a theme of exploration.
Students and families are more than welcome to attend the Junior College Panel on November 17th if they are interested in hearing good advice and some advanced information from the College Counseling Office.

First Year Students:
We hope you’re having a smooth transition to Archmere both academically and socially. As you get comfortable, please continue to seek out opportunities to get involved to find things that really interest you. If some of your course work is challenging to a point of a struggle, please talk to your teachers and Mrs. Doroh or Mr. Jezyk to see what type of resources are in place to help you succeed. The College Counseling Office has a few touch-points in the Spring Semester to engage with your class. You are always welcome to stop in the Counseling Suite to ask questions.
College Counseling Networking:
The College Counseling Office will be visiting Fordham, Hofstra, Lehigh, Lafayette, Catholic, Lipscomb, and Vanderbilt this month. We will also be hosting the College Counseling Roundtable program at Villanova in December. This program is attended by 60 - 80 college, independent, and school counselors twice a year.
