Daniel Qi ‘26 Receives the Michael Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award

Archmere art student Daniel Qi ‘26 has been named the recipient of the annual Michael Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award for his commitment to the study of art, outstanding portfolio, and originally conceived sketchbook. Daniel was selected for the award by several art alumni who helped jury the entries: Monique Rollins '98, Vincent LaCava '87, Mark Smith '86, and Amanda Phelan '06. Daniel's work was recently highlighted at the Archmere Fine Arts Festival on April 25th.
Selected by a distinguished panel of Archmere art alumni, the Michael P. Curcio '06 Emerging Artist Scholarship Award is presented annually to a deserving junior in recognition of overall excellence in the visual arts, and who most embodies Mr. Curcio's commitment to artistic excellence as evidenced in creative process documentation, original sketchbook work, and an art portfolio demonstrating the emergence of an original personal vision. The Emerging Artist Scholarship Award recipient receives a $2,000 tuition scholarship to Archmere Academy, graciously funded by the Curcio family and friends in memory of Michael Curcio ‘06, class of 2006. 

Daniel's winning entry met the following application requirements:
Slideshow Presentation Content: 10-15 finished works from art classes and/or independent personal artwork, showcasing individual artistic style and skill level. On each slide, indicate the title, media/medium created, and dimensions. The presentation should also include at least 5 “creative process” artifacts-these may include sketchbook pages, idea development or process documentation, or visual journal pages. Process documentation may include preliminary studies, developmental work to show thought processes in developing final pieces, short videos, as well as sketches, notations, and drawings. Creative process documentation artifacts should reflect an authentic, self-motivated approach to developing your individual creative vision, development, and ideas.
