Science of Everything Visits Episcopal Academy for Learning Focus
On October 16, the Science of Everything class visited the Center for Teaching & Learning at Episcopal Academy as part of The Science of Learning focus. The CTL supports the work of teachers and students to put evidence-informed insights into practice and test the efficacy of interventions in the classroom designed to improve student outcomes. CTL leaders Justin Cerenzia and Allison Schultz led the class through a Science of Learning Jeopardy game, giving an overview of CTL projects, and brought in Andrew Shimrock, a Spanish teacher, to discuss his ongoing research in his current classroom.
Posters for the Planet Club Debuts at Activity Fair
Led by sophomores Sophia Silverman '28 & Ceci Nowak '28, Posters for the Planet is a new club that invites students to identify a global issue of personal relevance, present the topic to their peers, and then work together as a team to design creative posters and graphic designs to communicate the issue, share action strategies, and reinforce their relevance to the community. The club made its debut at the Activity Fair on September 16th.
This month the Drama Club attended the West Chester Theatre Festival to present a competition piece called, "The Spot". The club attended performance workshops, a Q&A with a current Broadway actor, and was able to meet with college acting students and students from four other high schools. In addition, "The Spot" was recognized with several awards that day:
- Caeli McAlonan was awarded an Outstanding Performance medallion for a monologue auditions competition
- Meredith Victoria was awarded a medal for Outstanding Tech Crew
- "The Spot" won a trophy for Outstanding Performance

HRAI Student Daniel Qi '26 Serves as Concert Master
In addition to earning the first place win at the Music Teachers National Association Senior Performance competition, violinist Daniel Qi '26 served as concert master of the All Eastern Honors Ensemble Orchestra at the National Association of Music Education in Hartford, Connecticut on April 27.
Mrs Silverman's Junior Portfolio 3D Design students are hard at work on their found object apparel and architectural design projects. After a series of introductory assignments and three-dimensional material investigations, students apply the design thinking process to their chosen project, either a wearable fashion design made out of found materials, or a site-specific architectural design for a client of their choosing incorporating sustainable features.
The final projects will be displayed at our upcoming Fine Art Festival student showcase, featuring hundreds of works of art and design from each of our thirteen distinctive art electives on Friday, April 25th from 6-8pm in the Patio.
The Harmony for Peace Foundation recently recognized several of our HRAI student musicians. The Foundation celebrates the power of the arts and music for a more peaceful world, and students compete to become ambassadors for peace through music.
Third Prize awards went to: Andres Ramos '26, strings and Valentina Ramos '26, piano. Honorable Mention was awarded to Arlene Chiu '25. The students study under Mrs. Mary Ellen Schauber, Director of the Helena Raskob Arts Institute.
This month, juniors wrote meditations based on their reading of "Meditation 17" by John Donne in Mrs. Valerie Wright's Wit and Persuasion unit. The class is learning about rhetorical devices through the study of literature in order to explore the varying reasons to write persuasive pieces.
Students gathered in the Oratory to transform their state of mind as they wrote, connecting them spiritually to their assignment and centering them in their faith/beliefs as well as the charisms of Archmere.
